Art on a String

Check out this great collection of old buckles. Some are bakelite, most are Abalone. My mom and I decided to put down our ice cream momentarily and make them into little frames for tiny paintings. I used a Dremel to grind and sand out the centers and drill holes and TA DA...now I can wear my paintings as necklaces! I am planning on constructing about 15 more...so keep your eyes peeled if you are interested in one...

Deirdre, What a clever, clever idea for belt buckles! I have one that I purchased at a street fair years and years ago - an altered buckle - it has a small carved rose applied to the center instead of having the bar removed. The artist created a brooch from it. I love it! Love your idea too and your paintings are charming.
